General Finnish Thesaurus

YSA
YSA (Finnish General Thesaurus) is a general thesaurus in Finnish covering all fields of research. The thesaurus consists of over 26 000 indexing terms of which ca. 5 000 are geographical names. The thesaurus is maintained by the Finnish National Library and it’s first printed version was published in 1988. The YSA is meant to be used for indexing and retrieving of books, articles, electronic and other types of resources. The thesaurus helps people taking care of indexing and people retrieving information to use the same language. It is also meant to be used as starting point when creating special thesauri. The thesaurus has been created according to the principles of the standard SFS 5471 Guidelines for the establishment and maintenance of Finnish language thesauri. Allärs is a Swedish translation of YSA. The thesaurus can be browsed with the help of ONKI ontology library service or the ontology library service can be integrated into legacy systems with the help of a widget. Allärs (Allmän tesaurus på svenska) is a Swedish translation of the YSA (Finnish General Thesaurus). The thesaurus consists of over 20 000 indexing terms. Allärs is maintained by the library of Åbo Akademi University in co-operation with the National Library. Allärs is meant to be used for indexing and retrieving of books, articles, electronic and other types of resources. The thesaurus helps people taking care of indexing and people retrieving information to use the same language. The thesaurus can be browsed with the help of ONKI ontology library service or the ontology library service can be integrated into legacy systems with the help of a widget.
